Zoe Lightbody is a 2nd Year Learning Disability
Student Nurse, studying at Glasgow Caledonian University. Zoe became involved
with The Scottish Learning Disability Nursing Network (SLDNN) in 2014 and
presented that same year at the SLDNN Conference. Within the Student Sub Group,
Zoe is known as “The Knowledge Network Champion”. Her role is to promote both
networks and work alongside her colleague (Taylor Livingstone) from Edinburgh
Napier to educate the sub group on how to access and get the best out of The
Knowledge Network.
Prior to studying at Glasgow Caledonian University, Zoe
graduated from Ayr College with a HNC in Health care. Throughout her year at
college, Zoe volunteered with Adults with Learning Disabilities through Riverside
Centre and began working for The National Autistic Society (NAS) as a Support
Worker. It was through these opportunities; Zoe became eager to maintain and
improve the health of people with Learning Disabilities.
Zoe is still an employee of The National Autistic Society
and her passion for Learning Disability Nursing continues to grow. Zoe hopes to
graduate in 2016 and to then obtain a position that allows her to maintain her
enthusiasm and eager attitude towards Learning Disability Nursing.
